22 Weeks!

How Far Along: 22 Weeks!
Maternity Clothes: You betcha!
Stretch Marks: Not yet, but my skin is starting to feel tight. I'm still using my expensive stretch mark cream...haha
Sleep: Blah...not good this week. Last night I woke up at 3am, and was wide awake until 6am. I actually went down to the living room, ate cereal, and watched episodes of Roseanne.
Best Moment of the Week: Seeing the baby move from outside!!!
Miss Anything: nope
Movement: yep, feeling more and more every day. Last night, while we were laying in bed, we could actually see my stomach moving...weird, but so cool!
Food Cravings: Sweets!
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope
Showing: yep...I feel like I'm beginning to "pop"! I'm actually starting to feel really big, and my belly button is not as much of an "innie" as it used to be.
Gender Prediction: Girly girl!
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Happy :)
Looking forward to: Actually buying some outfits for baby...haven't bought anything yet!

This past week was much less eventful than the previous couple of weeks. I was crazy busy at work, all of my clients seemed to go crazy last week...grrrr. As I mentioned above, I am actually starting to feel big, so I think I'm really gonna pop any day now. I felt so much movement during the day today, it was wild. I actually came home at lunch, just so I could get some sleep.

We signed up for childbirth classes on Apr.20 and 21st. A couple of girls at work have taken them and really recommended we go. I need to call and rebook our 3D ultrasound, we had scheduled it for Apr.20.

I'm already doing my countdown to being finished work, less than 4 months....wahoo!!!!

We spent the long weekend at my mom and John's cottage with some of the fam. It was nice to get away and relax, and of course we had lots of snuggles with baby Amelia.

That's all, until Sunday...

Looking forward to: The long weekend coming up.

We've had another busy week around here. We noticed on Sunday that the baby store near our house had some Canadian made cribs for sale. We messaged them, and they agreed to hold their last white one for us to check out after work on Tuesday. We ended up getting a $1000 crib for $475!!!! we figured it would fit in Andrew's car with the seats folded down....we were wrong....

So, on the roof of the car it went, and I had to follow Andrew home to make sure it didn't fall off! So of course we had to set it up as soon as we got home, the box was friggin' huge and I couldn't help Andrew get it up the stairs at all! Here it is, we love it:

On Wednesday I had my appt. with the midwife and we reviewed the results of our 20-week ultrasound. The baby is healthy and is developing normally. I, however, have a low-lying placenta. Apparently, my placenta will probably move as the pregnancy progresses, and it shouldn't be an issue. I'll have another ultrasound in my third trimester, and if my placenta hasn't moved enough, we'll have to consult with an OB.

AND....yesterday we went for a quick gender confirmation ultrasound at the 3D ultrasound place. It's now official....we are having a GIRL!!! The baby was moving around like crazy!!!! They told me to eat something sweet before the appointment, and I may have overdone it (hot chocolate, a snickers, and powdered sugar candy). We were able to see the baby yawning and stretching, it was so cool! She also quickly flipped it to 3D/4D for a quick minute because our little girl was in such a good position, it was awesome. Now we can't wait for the full 3D ultrasound which we booked for Apr.20 @ 9am.

Afterwards, we went and got curtains, curtain rods,  a new light, and a closet organizer for the baby's room. I was so excited about the light, it was originally $110, but we got it for $19 at Bouclair!!! Of course we spent the day putting it all up, well really Andrew did most of it. Here's the room so far:

So, we really just need a chair and a change table, and then we're pretty much be done. I'm going to order a wall decal from etsy for behind the crib, but haven't picked one yet.

Ok....that's all for now, we're about to watch the Grammy's....until next week...

20 Weeks! It's a.....

How Far Along: 20 Weeks!
Maternity Clothes: You betcha...
Stretch Marks: Nope! Yay!
Sleep: I slept terribly during the week. On Wednesday night, I woke up at 3:30am and was wide awake. I actually went downstairs and tried to sleep on the couch, but no luck. When Andrew woke up at 6am, I was watching tv and eating cereal...ha! I ended up going into work a few hours late so I could get some sleep first. However, the last two nights I have slept like a baby, and only woke up to pee once!!!
Best Moment of the Week: Our ultrasound :)
Miss Anything: nope
Movement: yep! Sometimes I wonder if baby should be moving even more though based on other blogs that I've read. This morning Andrew finally felt the baby kick!
Food Cravings: nothing this week...
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really, just brushing my teeth....
Showing: still waiting for my first stranger to ask when I'm due...
Gender Prediction: keep reading....
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Happy :)
Looking forward to: Another quick ultrasound on Saturday to confirm baby's sex...

We've had an eventful week around here! Found out on Sunday night that my dad and Carol were going to come for a visit this weekend. That meant that my dad could bring his tools and we could do the floor in the baby's room.

So....Monday night we went out and bought flooring. Tuesday night we went out and bought paint. Wednesday night we (well really Andrew) painted the room. Thursday night Andrew painted the inside of the closet white and ripped up the carpet. And Friday during the day Andrew finished ripping out the carpet strips, padding, etc., so that the room was ready to go.

Our ultrasound was Friday @ 1:30pm, and I had taken the day off of work. I spent the morning cleaning the house like a mad woman! Before we knew it, it was 1:30!!!! As we were just about to arrive at the ultrasound place, Andrew asked me if I'd brought my requisition form, and I panicked when I realized that I hadn't. I called the place to say I'd be 10 mins late, and they told me to come ahead in, and Andrew could run and get it during the first part of my scan....phew!

So, into the ultrasound room I went with a way nicer ultrasound tech than the one I had last time. I laid there for what felt like a lifetime, when she told me that the baby was not cooperating and was facing with it's back and bum forward. So, she had me lay on my side, but the baby only moved for a quick minute or two, and went right back. She then had me stand up, walk around the room, and do some jumping jacks. Baby was still not budging! She finally went to get Andrew, and told me she had a guess about the baby's sex.

She came back with Andrew, and showed us baby's limbs, body, etc, as well as the heart beating. I couldn't make out any of it, except for the heartbeat. She then said that she thought the baby was likely a.......GIRL!!!!!!!! She said she couldn't be sure and we shouldn't paint the room pink, but she'd had a few looks between the legs, and there didn't appear to be a penis.

She sent Andrew back to the waiting room, and said she would just do a few more pics. When Andrew left, baby moved a bit and opened the legs again. She quickly showed me that there didn't appear to be a penis, and declared that she was still guessing girl, but couldn't be sure.

Here's the pics we received:

Legs and Feet

Head
 Hand
Spine
When we left the ultrasound, we were excited, but also a bit confused and disappointed, as we had gone there hoping to leave knowing if we would have a little girl or a little boy.

Andrew suggested I call the 3D ultrasound place to find out when we would go for that. When I called, they told me that they had a package where we could go in asap just to confirm gender, and then go back at 28 weeks for the full 3D/4D ultrasound. So, needless to say, that's what we're doing. We're going on Saturday morning at 10:45am, and should be able to say for sure that we're having a girl.

On Saturday, Andrew did the flooring in the baby's room with the help of my dad and Jeff. I think it looks amazing, couldn't be happier with it. Here's a before and after:

Doesn't it look great?!

So...Wednesday I have an appointment with the midwife, I'm sure nothing too eventful will happen. I guess that's all, well really that's a lot.....

Until next week...

19 Weeks!

How Far Along: 19 Weeks! (+2 days in the photo!)
Maternity Clothes: Yep...all I wear are maternity jeans and tights! Still wearing all my regular shirts though. Luckily I already had lots of long, loose shirts, as I wore tights all the time before I got pregnant.
Stretch Marks: Nope! I have a feeling they're coming though....
Sleep: I had a couple of great nights and a couple of terrible ones...
Best Moment of the Week: Feeling lots of baby movement!
Miss Anything: fitting in my old pants...
Movement: yep! I feel it most when I get into bed at night. Andrew's been trying to feel it, but I think it's too soon for that.
Food Cravings: golden delicious apples....yummy!
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really, just brushing my teeth....
Showing: I sure think so....still waiting for my first stranger to ask when I'm due though...
Gender Prediction: still boy...next week we'll hopefully know the answer!!!!
Labor Signs: No, nope, no way, zilch, and thank god for that!
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Happy :)
Looking forward to: Finding out the sex of the baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So...we moved our ultrasound to this Friday Feb.1....we can't wait! I still predict boy, but you never know. I know it sounds silly, but I think I will actually be shocked if they tell us it's a girl...haha! We don't care either way, it will just be so funny. We haven't bought anything for the baby yet except the stroller, so we're going to go buy our first little outfit afterwards. I took the whole day off, so only two more work days for me! Have I mentioned that we can't wait???

We spent this past weekend in Clarksburg with Andrew's parents and grandma Gracie, which is why this post is a couple of days late. I just totally forgot yesterday. It was nice to get away for the weekend.

My dad and Carol are coming down on Friday, and we're looking forward to visiting with them. My dad is going to bring his table saw and nail gun, so we're going to rip out the carpet in the nursery and put down hardwood laminate. We went out last night and bought the flooring. Then tonight we went and bought paint. We decided to just go with a light grey, as we don't want to repaint if baby # 2 happens to be the opposite sex. We didn't want to paint the room pink or blue anyway, so that's fine. This whole baby thing is starting to become real!!!!!!!!!!

Until next week............

18 Weeks!

How Far Along: 18 Weeks!
Total Weight Gain: not sure, I think I'm taking this one out...I don't want to be stressing about my weight throughout the rest of my pregnancy!
Maternity Clothes: Yep....all I wore this week were maternity jeans, tights, and one pair of dress pants that still fit. I'm still wearing all of my regular shirts though...
Stretch Marks: Nope! Still using my stretch mark cream every night. I bought benadryl cream last week which totally cleared up my rash within two days. It started coming back yesterday, so I'll have to keep using it.
Sleep: So-so...I had a couple of great night and a couple of terrible ones...
Best Moment of the Week: Feeling some first baby movements...very cool!
Miss Anything: sleeping well...
Movement: yep! Last night we were watching tv and I thought I felt something, then a couple of minutes later I felt a real flutter. I felt a couple more last night, and a couple today...
Food Cravings: no real cravings this week...
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really, just brushing my teeth....
Showing: I sure think so....someone at work said they thought I was just starting to show, so I guess I'm still just looking fatter...I think I look huge in my picture today!
Gender Prediction: still boy...
Labor Signs: No way!
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: I would say about half and half...
Looking forward to: Our ultrasound on Feb.4!!!! Well, actually I'm going to try to move it to Feb.1 because Andrew has to work on the 4th....we'll see!

Nothing too exciting this week besides feeling some movement. I had a bit of a meltdown yesterday when I couldn't find any shirts to wear to the gym. Obviously I knew that I'd gain weight, but I still just feel like I look fat instead of pregnant. I think I find it hard because I worked so hard to lose 50lbs, and it's hard to put weight back on. Anyway, I've decided I'm too concerned about the weight  aspect, so I'm not going to include it anymore. We went to my mom's for Jen's birthday today and got to see baby Amelia and Maddy, they're both sweethearts! Hard to believe we're going to have our own in 5 short months!!!!! We're already talking about spending a week at the cottage in the summer which will be great.

I've been trying to decide how to go about telling my clients that I'm pregnant. For some of them, we're already talking about doing planning for the summer, and I won't be around when the time comes. I've only told two so far,  but I don't want to put them in the awkward position of having to ask as I begin to show more. I guess I'll just have to find a way to tell them in the next couple of weeks. It's kind of annoying that my work is still assigning me new families. I'll only end up seeing them 4-5 times before they'll get a new worker...stupid!

Until next week......

17 Weeks!

How Far Along: 17 Weeks!
Total Weight Gain: not sure....haven't weighed myself this week...
Maternity Clothes: Yep....I did it!!! I went and bought some maternity jeans on Monday during my lunch break. They are actually pretty nice, someone even complimented me on them at work! On the weekend we went to the H and M in Guelph because they carry maternity. I bought two more pairs of jeans and a top. Not sure if I love the jeans, I might take them back to the store in Waterloo. I think I like the ones I got from Motherhood better.
Stretch Marks: Nope! But my skin is still super itchy all the time. The rash on my chest isn't getting much better. If it's not better by Friday, I think I'm going to see our family doctor. I looked up pupps pregnancy rash that people can get, but it doesn't look like that.
Sleep: Not so great this week. I've been waking up with back pain a lot, which I've never had in my life. Hoping it will be better this week.
Best Moment of the Week: Buying some maternity clothes so I don't feel sick from my tight pants :)
Miss Anything: not really...
Movement: maybe.....not really sure....
Food Cravings: no real cravings this week...
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really, just brushing my teeth....
Showing: I think so...but no one has asked me when I'm expecting or how far along I am. I think when someone asks me who doesn't know that I'm pregnant, that'll be when I'm officially showing.
Gender Prediction: really feeling boy this week, Andrew's not sure.
Labor Signs: No way!
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Happy :)
Looking forward to: Our ultrasound of Feb.4!!!! We seriously can't wait...this will probably be what I'm looking forward to for the next three weeks too!

Nothing too exciting happened this week. Luckily I've only had a few headaches this week, which is a major improvement from last week. I got to the gym a couple of times, and we went for a nice 5km walk with Casey yesterday. The baby name search continues, even though we're pretty set on the names we have picked. I had to walk up a huge flight of stairs to a client's house this week, and man was I ever winded by the top! Haha....guess that's only going to get worse! I also had some really vivid dreams this week, which according to the internet is very popular. Baby's supposed to be the size of an onion this week...I've noticed my tummy just feels heavy all the time.

I'm tired...and watching the Golden Globes....so that's all for now!

16 Weeks!

How Far Along: 16 Weeks!
Total Weight Gain: 10lbs, but I've only gained 6 of those since my first appt. with the midwife on Nov.5. So 6lbs in two months seems about right. The midwife seemed happy with my weight gain.
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but only because I've been too lazy to go. I only worked three days this week, and I wore tights with long sweaters every day. Hopefully I'll get to the maternity store one day this week.
Stretch Marks: Nope! But my skin is still super itchy all the time. I asked the midwife about it, and she honestly didn't have too much to say. I told her I was putting on cream all the time, and she seemed to think that was the right thing. She also said that I could take benadryl before bed to help with the itchiness, but I haven't gotten to that point yet. Not sure if I mentioned it last week, but I actually developed a small rash on my chest, right at the top of my cleavage. It almost looks like a patch of eczema or something. The midwife said that if it doesn't get better soon, I should contact our family doc.
Sleep: So-so, one night I can have a great sleep, and then the next is terrible. Last night I woke up to pee three times, so that didn't help. I asked the midwife about sleeping on my back. She said that by the time my belly is big enough that it causes a problem, I won't be comfortable sleeping that way anyway. She said not to worry if I wake up on my back either, it's not a big deal.
Best Moment of the Week: Hearing baby Cummings' nice strong heartbeat...pretty amazing!
Miss Anything: not being itchy....and not having headaches...
Movement: Nothing yet....
Food Cravings: Potatoes in any form, and pickles in the evening..
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really, just brushing my teeth....
Showing: Sort of, I think I look pretty much the same this week as I did last week...
Gender Prediction: really feeling boy this week, Andrew's not sure.
Labor Signs: No...definitely no....
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Happy :)
Looking forward to: Figuring out the details of finishing our basement. It will be so nice to have all the extra space before the baby comes!

So, I've been having headaches pretty much every single day, and really bad headaches. I've been having to take tylenol on a regular basis, which the midwife says is fine. It seems like from other people I've talked to and some blogs that I've read, that it's fairly common to have headaches. I hope they stop soon, as they're kind of debilitating. I stayed home all weekend because my head hurt so much.

I've noticed that I get winded really quickly now, just a small flight of stairs and I seem to be out of breath. I only made it to the gym once this past week, but this week my work schedule is back to normal, so I'm hoping to go at least three days. I don't do anything too intense, just the elliptical for 40 mins.

Oh yeah, we saw the midwife on Thursday. She said that I was 15 weeks and 5 days, which would mean that I was actually 16 weeks yesterday. We got to listen to the baby's heartbeat which sounded nice and strong, it sounded clearer than our last appointment. It's a pretty awesome thing, and always reassuring when we haven't gone for an ultrasound since November.

I don't go for the extra shots for my o negative blood type until 28 weeks, so that's still pretty far off. The midwife asked me to remember to bring in my hospital registration forms for our next appt. Ahhh....that makes it seem so real!

Most exciting news.....we find out the sex of the baby on Feb.4 @ 8am!!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll have our 20 week ultrasound, and they'll do a thorough scan to make sure baby is healthy. We can't wait...I think it's going to be the longest 4 weeks ever.

Until next week.........
