Oh my....she is 9 months old already!!!! (And yes, this is three days late!) These monthly pictures keep getting trickier because this girl does not want to sit still, it's a good thing we've only got three more to do. This month has been much less eventful than last, in fact, nothing too exciting happened this month. Her spit up is about the same, some good days and some bad. She has really mastered crawling and she is sooo fast, I can hardly take my eyes off her for a second. We spent most of this month at home since we travelled so much in January. We had been planning of trying to arrange to share a nanny with another family, but after putting more thought into it we decided that the burden of having them in our home every other month would outweigh the benefits.
So, I started looking for a home daycare for Em about a week and a half ago, and I am so happy to say that we already found one! It almost seems too good to be true so I hope it all works out and that nothing falls through before September. The family lives just around the corner from us in a beautiful home, and they have two girls who are 8 and 10. The girls were amazing with Emmy when we met with them, and played were her the whole time. The husband is a police officer and the lady just seems very kind and down to earth. Their whole basement is set up like a daycare, and they have a nice yard with a great swing set/playhouse. There will be another little girl starting in September who is two months younger than Emmy, so it will be nice for her to have a little playmate!
Here's some tidbits from the past month:
- Em still just has four teeth, but I think we'll be seeing a couple more any day now
- We're going to the doctor for her 9 month check-up tomorrow so we'll see how much she weighs
- She has started screaming, and I mean SCREAMING!!!! She isn't upset or anything, she just screams sometimes...I'm hoping this phase passes soon
- Emmy just loves fruit, in particular berries. She has yet to meet a berry that she hasn't liked..
- After being sick last month and barely eating, her appetite is back and she's a pig!
- I can now take her up to her crib at naptime and bedtime, and just lay her down and walk out...it's awesome! She usually babbles to herself for awhile, but then goes to sleep on her own
- Em has been sleeping really well the past couple of weeks, usually going until about 4 or 5am before waking for a quick feed. In fact, she's had a few nights where she has slept right through from 7pm - 7am!!!!
- She has learned that her stuffed bunny's name is Peter, and she seriously loves him. I can ask her "Where's Peter?", and she will crawl to him, grab him, and start laughing
- She has become amazingly independent since learning how to crawl. Sometimes she can occupy herself for over an hour while I clean or cook in the kitchen.
- She's obsessed with the bathroom, if she even sees the bathroom door open, she squeals with excitement and crawls there as fast as she can
- She has no interest in feeding herself anything. If I don't feed it to her, she throws it to Casey....we're working on it...
- This month we did the following: went to Palmerston to visit Nana and Poppy, celebrated Em's first Valentines Day, had a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Cummings, went to her friend Avery's first birthday party, had lots of playdates including a trip to the pool with all of Em's friends, and lots of other fun adventures!
