Two Months Old!
Emerson is two months old (tomorrow)...crazy! The past two months have flown by, I can barely distinguish one week from another when I think back. I'm sure the lack of sleep also makes it difficult to remember...haha! Here's her two month photos:
She is still spitting up like crazy. We did end up putting her on baby zantac because it was just sooo excessive. Although it hasn't stopped the spit up, she is much more content after feedings and no longer arches her back and cries when we burp her. I know it's just spit up, but it really makes life difficult. Nursing her takes at least 30 mins to an hour, then I have to keep her up right for at least 30 mins. By the time we leave the house, I often only have one hour until she'll want to feed again. Also, often after I feed her she spits up so much that we both need an outfit change. Even on walks, I feel like I'm stopping every block to wipe her face off. Not to mention it's kind of embarassing to take her out because I don't want her spitting up all over other people. Obviously, I just can't wait for her to outgrow it, unfortunately, that likely won't happen until she's at least 6 months :(
Onto happier things... here's some tidbits from the past four weeks:
- Emerson showed me her first real smile on July 22 (6 weeks old). She had spit up, and I was wiping her face. I rubbed her nose and she shot me a great big smile! It melted my heart!
- Since her first smile, Emmy's been smiling all the time. The best time to catch a big grin is first thing in the morning after her diaper change.
- She no longer likes to take a bottle, and pretty much refuses if I'm in the house...so no more weekends with extra sleep.
- For the past week, she's been following a bit more of a schedule and I've been getting more sleep...yay! She usually has her last feed of the day between 9-10pm, then she sleeps for 4-5 hours. She wakes for a quick feed, and then goes back to sleep for 2-3 hours. I feel like a new person getting so much more sleep.
- For a couple of weeks she was only pooping once a day or less. Over this past weekend, she was pooping constantly, which resulted in numerous diaper explosions and outfit changes. She seems to be back to her normal self though since yesterday...thank goodness!
- Emmy has had all of her 6 week check-ups with the midwife, and we've now been discharged from their program.
- At 6 weeks and 5 days old, Emmy weighed 11lbs 9oz (up from 8lbs 6oz at birth!) and was 22 and a half inches long.
- At eight weeks old, we've had to move up to size 2 diapers! We probably could've stayed in 1's, but they were getting awfully tight and didn't seem comfortable anymore.
- Emmy has outgrown a bunch of her sleepers....so sad, she's growing too fast!!!
- She has three rolls on each thigh...hahaha!
- She is still loving baths more than anything, and is loving walks also
- We've been going for long walks with Casey almost every single day
- Emmy lives in bibs, she literally has one on at all times, unless I'm taking a picture....haha! It's the only way we can prevent changing her outfit a million times. One day I got her ready to go out, and she was in her 3rd outfit by the time we left (because she kept spitting up...ahhh!)
- Her two month shots are tomorrow...hoping I don't cry...hha!
- I've been wearing Emmy in my cuddly wrap (photo below) and she loves it...she falls asleep almost instantly
- She's been a busy girl! This past month we've gone to Clarksburg twice, gone shopping in Oakville and Milton, taken our last trip to McMaster for Mommy's final checkup, and gone to Grandma and Papa John's cottage for her first trip to the beach. We've also done lots of other little outings, including learning to grocery shop without Daddy. I put Emmy in the wrap and she sleeps while I shop...it's great!
Here's more photos of the past month:
