Looking forward to: The third trimester and finally being in the home stretch! And having two short work weeks in a row...yay!

Here's a collage of my bump pictures from 12 - 27 weeks, I've certainly grown a lot...haha!

I plan on doing another one from 28-40 Weeks (if I make it that far). I'm scared to see how huge I'll be by the end of that one....ahh, the joys of pregnancy :)

Ah yes...my appointment with the midwife went great this week! I was sooo nervous to get measured, as soon as I walked in I told her that I'd grown. She said that if I had, they'd probably send me for another ultrasound, and maybe to get my glucose test done asap. We discussed early signs of labour....it freaked me out!  My blood pressure was good, and baby's heartbeat was around 140-145.

Then....the moment of truth, out came the tape measure. She pressed on my belly a bunch, then measured me, and said I was measuring 32cm (I was 29 last time and should only be around 26 at this point). She felt my belly a bunch more, and said there was a spot lower down where she felt a dip and she was thinking that was actually the top of my uterus. She decided to get another set of hands to feel my belly.

In came an older, more experienced looking midwife (Cheryl), who'll also be around as a back-up around my delivery date. She felt my tummy and agreed with Jess, the lower spot was actually the top of my uterus. So....I am actually measuring a bit on the small side...24.5cm, but still in the safe range. Phew....relief...I'm not having a 20lb baby and there's no reason to be concerned!!!! Jess said that neither she or the other midwife felt the lower spot at my last appt, and it could be getting more pronounced as I get bigger. Either way, I didn't care, as long as everything is fine.

I asked Jess about my weight gain and said I was a bit concerned. She looked at my starting weight and did say that I am at the higher end of the spectrum, however, she's not concerned. I haven't really changed my eating, and I'm certainly not eating for two! I do have to be honest that I've fallen completely off the exercise wagon though. Anyway, she said if I'm concerned to just watch my carb intake during my last trimester. I know someone else who just had a baby, and she gained over 40lbs and only had a 6 lb baby, and she wasn't a big person.

I have Thursday and Friday off of work this week, and Monday and Tuesday the following week...so that will be a nice 6-day break. Also, my supervisor told me that I officially won't be getting any new files...finally!

Oh yeah....I'm going for a prenatal massage on April 1st and I can't friggin' wait! Yesterday my back was so sore I could barely walk, but it seems to be a bit better today.

We've been busy working on the basement this weekend. We bought flooring and stone for our fireplace yesterday, and today we bought paint. Andrew's actually painting right now :) I can't wait to have it done, it's going to be such a nice, cozy room to hang out in.

I'm going for my glucose test this week, and for my bloodwork for my Rhogam shot. I guess they take a blood sample, and then I go back in a few days for the Rhogam shot (because of my O- blood type).

I just realized that my due date is exactly 3 months from today....June.24!!!!!!!!!! Holy crap!!!!!!!!!!!

Until next week....

Looking forward to: Finally getting to the third trimester!!! Only one or two more weeks, depending on which source you check.

This week was pretty uneventful as far as the pregnancy goes. Still having really bad acid reflux/heartburn almost every day. Also, I've been having bad back pain, especially at night. I think it must depend on what position the baby is in, as some days I have none, and others are terrible. And it doesn't seem to matter how much I've been on my feet or what I've been doing that day. I finally took some Tylenol yesterday, I didn't think I would be able to sleep without it. Today has been a bit better, so hopefully this week will be better.

I'm dreading my appointment with the midwife this week, it's on Thursday morning. I'm dreading it because I'm positive that my tummy has continued to grow since I was there last time. She had told me that she hoped my stomach would be smaller this week than it was at my 23 week appointment...I can almost guarantee that's not the case. There's nothing I can do about it, except wait and see.

We ordered the Benji glider that I posted about last week, it should take about 8 weeks to arrive...can't wait!

My work week last week was pretty shitty....it seemed like all of my clients hated me. In fact, on Monday I sat through a two-hour meeting where my client constantly just asked for a new worker, and talked about how much she disliked me. I must be more hormonal because usually it wouldn't bother me, but it did a bit. I came home in a bad mood a few nights this week because of work, so next week has to be better! I have to go to court on Tuesday, and I'm not sure that I have anything that fits anymore. I've been getting away with tights, but they really aren't considered appropriate. I still have some money on a gift card for Motherhood Maternity, so I think I'm going to go over lunch tomorrow.

I can't wait for the weather to get warmer. I would love nothing more than to be able to wear sandals, and walk the dog in the sunshine without a coat. Common Spring....

That's all for now.......

Looking forward to: Ordering a glider for the nursery.

I know, I know....I'm a day late! Thank-you to some of you for reminding me! I remembered last night after I was already in my pj's, and the thought of getting dressed again (mostly putting a bra back on) seemed unbearable!

Thankfully nothing too eventful happened this week. I've been feeling baby girl move all the time, she was actually moving when Andrew took the picture tonight :) Last week was a crappy work week, I worked really late two nights, which makes me completely exhausted these days. I had another draining two hour meeting tonight...blah! I literally feel like I am counting down my time left there....less than three months now! I am almost positive that my last day will be June.7!

This weekend was all about home renos and gliders! We spent all day Saturday looking for tile for our basement, and for vanities for the basement bathroom. We also went to the baby stores in Waterloo to look for a glider for the baby's room. There are so many beautiful ones, like this one:

but they are between $1000-$1200....we are not paying that much! We would all need to get an ottoman or foot stool, and we have no room for one.

So, I think we've decided on this one:

It's called the Benji Recliner from Best Chairs and it's only half the price of the one above. It's going to be really tight in the nursery, but I'd rather the room be tight and have a super comfy chair, then have the room look nice with a less comfy chair. Also, since it's a recliner, we won't have the make room for an ottoman. I think we'll get it in the gray colour above, it's a lot dark than the gray colour on the walls, but that's fine.

My co-worker who was using the same midwife as us had her baby this morning, she also had a girl. She ended up having a c-section, so i'm not sure if she'll be able to share too much of her experience with the midwife.

I really want to go on a babymoon....like really badly! I have lots of paid time to take off from work, but with the expenses from the baby and the basement reno, we really can't afford it. Ah well....a girl can dream!

Until next week.....

24 Weeks!

How Far Along: 24 Weeks!

Miss Anything: nope
Movement: yep, the kicks are starting to feel stronger lately
Food Cravings: Still sweets. I made brownies last week, but I only ate one and took the rest to work!
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope
Showing: yeppers
Gender Prediction: Girl!
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button In or Out? In....but it appears to be getting much less shallow...
Wedding Rings On or Off: On, but I've been taking them off at night as my fingers seem to swell a bit when I'm sleeping
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: I think if I'm being honest, I have to say moody this week :(
Looking forward to: Not much this week....I really wish I had a holiday or something to look forward to, everyone at work is off for March Break with their kids.

So, this has been an interesting week to say the least. On Tuesday morning, I met with a new midwife, Minke, who will be my back up if my midwife, Jess, is away or at another delivery. I heard from someone at work that Minke is amazing, and they wanted to use her but couldn't because she's been off on a maternity leave. So, I did really like her and will be comfortable if she ends up being at my delivery. The appointment went fine, until it came time to measure my belly. My 20-week appointment was the first one where Jess measured. At that time, she told me your belly should measure about the same number of weeks you are. So, at 20 weeks my belly was 20cm which was perfect!

Well....Minke measured my belly a couple of times, and I could tell something was off. She told me that she wanted to get Jess to come in and measure, to make sure they were measuring the same way. So...I heard her interrupt Jess' other appointment, and then the two of them were whispering in the hallway. I think I started to freak out a bit at this point. So, Jess measured me, and she had the same reaction....I was measuring 29cm at 23 weeks. My belly grew 9cm in three weeks, and they seemed concerned. So, they called the ultrasound place and made an appointment for me to go in the next morning. They didn't really tell me what the possibilities were, so I was freaking out! I googled it of course, and lots of possibilities came up - big baby, too much amniotic fluid, gestational diabetes, etc.

We went for the ultrasound on Wednesday morning, but of course the technician didn't say anything. She did say "good luck" as I was leaving, which didn't make me feel any better. We did see baby girl moving around lots and opening and closing her mouth. She looked good to us!  On Thursday morning, Jess called me with the results, and baby girl is perfectly healthy. All the results were normal in fact, baby is measuring at the 57th percentile. So, as of now, there is no explanation for why I grew so quickly, she's hoping I'll be smaller at my next appointment. Also - on a positive note, my placenta has moved, so I no longer have a low-lying placenta..yay!

My work week was completely crazy this week. I spent the whole week searching for a set of triplets. The mother told me one died, and the other two were at Sick Kids in Toronto. I literally spent two days playing detective trying to find them and figure out what the hell was going on. Turns out - there never were any babies.....ahhh! I'm relieved I don't have to worry about the babies anymore, but was very frustrated with all the lies and the amount of time I spent working on it.

I took most of the day off on Friday which was nice. We bought a dresser at Ikea that we'll use a change table. We also went to Snuggle Bugz and bought a car seat as they were having a sale....holy expensive! We're going to be poor by the time this baby gets here. That being said, I really love the car seat we got.

Until next week....
