10 Weeks!

Today I am officially 10 weeks along. I was going to take a belly pic, but forgot, so here's a pic of me holding my one-month old niece, Amelia. So far I've been feeling pretty good, just extremely tired and a bit of an uneasy stomach in the mornings. I think I have gained a few pounds, but that may be due to the fact that all I want to eat is carbs as they seem to settle my stomach. I finally went back to the gym last night after a 3 weeks hiatus. I did 50 mins. on the elliptical and actually felt great! I also bought the book "what to expect when you're expecting", as it seems to be a prerequisite for all pregnant women.

How Far Along: 10 Weeks
Total Weight Gain: a couple of pounds I think...
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but I do have to leave the button undone on some of my jeans :)
Stretch Marks: No
Sleep: Good, except for waking up to pee!
Best Moment of the Week: Andrew getting to come home for a day
Miss Anything: Not really, I wasn't a huge coffee or alcohol drinker
Movement: Haven't felt anything yet...
Food Cravings: Carbs, carbs, and more carbs....
Anything making you queasy or sick: some smells hit me out of the blue, also creamy things like creamy soup make me nauseas.
Showing? I think I look a bit chubbier...
Gender Prediction: Boy
Labor Signs: Hell no!
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off? On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time? Happy
Looking Forward To: my next appt. with my midwife, and being able to tell more people once we've past the 12 week mark.

Nice to Meet You Baby!

On November 9, 2012, I went for my first ultrasound called a "dating ultrasound" which they use to determine how far along you are. You have to drink a whole ton of water before the ultrasound, and I wasn't feeling so well on the way there. When we arrived, I ended up throwing up in the parking lot while Andrew paid for parking. I felt better right afterwards. I was expecting that Andrew would get to come into the room with me, but I went in alone. The technician didn't say two words to me throughout the whole thing which was making me start to worry. Then finally she turned the screen and showed me baby Cummings! She then went and got Andrew so he could see the baby too. She scrolled through several images, and showed us the baby heartbeat which looked like flickering on the screen. It was awesome, and made me feel much more confident that the baby was healthy and doing well. That night I shared the news with the rest of my family, including my dad and his wife, my older brother, and my sister.

Karey's Preggers Too!

On November 8, 2012, Janice called and told us to go on Skype to talk with Karey. Andrew and I immediately suspected that she was going to tell us she's pregnant. We called her, and after some awkward small talk she finally told us that she and Dan were expecting and that she was about 11 weeks along!!!! We of course told her our news too, and we all laughed and freaked out for a bit. We called Andrew's other sister, Alex, over skype on a three-way call, and filled her in on the big news. I think she was the most surprised!!!! Also, turns out that Janice had known for a few weeks about both of us being pregnant, and it had been killing her not to say anything. What a great night, and so exciting that we'll be having babies so close together. Congrats Dan and Karey!!!!

Meeting the Midwife!

On November 5, 2012, I had my first meeting with my midwife, Jessalynn. We tried to hear the baby's heartbeat, but weren't successful. She had prepared me that it would probably be a long shot.

Ouch!

On Nov.3/12, we had another wedding to attend for my friend, Bethany! Unfortunately, I was experiencing unbelievable pain in my jaw that I assumed was the result of a dental issue. Due to the pregnancy, I didn't think I was allowed to take Advil. I found info from Motherisk which stated that it was safe to take Advil during the first and second trimesters, so I was able to get a bit of relief. On November 5, 2012, I ended up getting an emergency root canal...ouch! I wasn't given any pain killers because I'm pregnant, and they had to be extra careful about taking x-rays.
