15 Weeks!

How Far Along: 15 Weeks!
Total Weight Gain: not sure this week...haven't weighed myself...
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but definitely soon, I've just been putting it off. Even my winter coat is tight when I'm wearing a heavy sweater. I got a gift card for a maternity store for X-Mas, so I'll have to check out the store in the next week or two. I've decided that I'm wearing my lululemon to work tomorrow, and I don't care what anyone has to say about it.
Stretch Marks: Nope! But my skin is  still super itchy all the time :( Going to ask the midwife about it...
Sleep: Not good....my back has been really sore, and ironically I find that sleeping on my back helps. Well...I just found out yesterday that you're not supposed to sleep on your back when you're pregnant. I've always been kind of a side-sleeper, so I'm not sure why I'm finding it so uncomfortable.
Best Moment of the Week: Spending X-Mas with family and friends.
Miss Anything: I did actually miss having a drink over X-Mas, but I wasn't in serious withdrawal or anything
Movement: Nothing yet....hoping in the next couple of weeks..
Food Cravings: Still apples, and potatoes in any form, and pickles
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really, brushing my teeth is still causing problems...
Showing: Sort of, it's clear that I've gained some weight, as you can tell from the photo. I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks that it will become that defined baby belly shape....
Gender Prediction: Boy
Labor Signs: No...thank God!
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Happy :)
Looking forward to: Our appointment with the midwife on Thursday...excited to hear baby's heartbeat again!!!!

We had a really nice and relaxing X-Mas holiday this year, very low-key. We spent X-Mas eve and dad with Andrew's parents and grandma Grace, just the five of us. Then boxing day we headed to my grandma and poppy's for my family X-Mas. This is one of the first years that we didn't do the drive upto Renfrew to see my dad and Carol. Although we would've loved to see them, I'm glad that we had the time to just relax this year.

We bought a new camera with our x-mas gift money, we knew we'd need a new one before baby arrived. And we didn't really buy each other gifts this year as we are going to try to finish our basement, so it was kind of our x-mas gift for each other. We got this awesome Canon SX 50:

We went out for a walk with Casey yesterday and took some nice photos with it.

We went for another walk today, it's been nice to get out for some walks in the snow, especially since I've haven't been to the gym in a week or two.

The baby name debate continued this evening. Even thought I feel like we're having a boy and we have a favourite boy name, we still want to come up with girl names because really it's a 50/50 chance. We picked a couple that we liked tonight...but there's still 6 months for us to figure it out.

We're going to see our midwife on Thursday for our regular appointment. I'm hoping I'll get my requisition form to go for my 20 weeks ultrasound. Not sure if I have to go right at 20 weeks, or if I can go at 18/19 weeks.

Also, not sure if I mentioned it before, but I found out that my blood type is O negative. That means I have to get some extra needles or something, so not sure when that happens.

Anywho...that's it for now....see ya at 16 weeks!

14 Weeks!

How Far Along: 14 Weeks in the photo, a few days late with my post
Total Weight Gain: 8lbs I think...but it fluctuatues often so hard to say for sure....
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but definitely soon! Most of my pants fit in the morning, but then they're super tight by the end of the work day.
Stretch Marks: Nope! But....she skin is super itchy all the time :(
Sleep: Ok...about the same. Still get up at least once a night to pee, sometimes twice.
Best Moment of the Week: We got our stroller and set it all up. Andrew and I had a hilarious time practicing folding it and unfolding it again. I'm not very good, Andrew says I have to have stroller practice every night after dinner...
Miss Anything: Not really....
Movement: Nothing yet....
Food Cravings: Still apples, and potatoes in any form, and I really was craving pickles this week...
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really, but still come close to getting sick every morning when I brush my teeth
Showing: Well I'm definitely gaining weight, but my belly still doesn't have that defined pregnant belly shape...
Gender Prediction: Boy, I think....hmmm.....
Labor Signs: No....I try not to think about it...ha!
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Happy :)
Looking forward to: Spending X-Mas with family this week, and having a few days to relax before going back to work.

We've really been starting to think about baby names these last couple of weeks. At first we both agreed that boys names were so much harder, but now we have a favourite boy name and we're still trying to figure out for a girl. I figure we'll probably change our minds before June anyway, so you'll have to wait and see what we end up choosing. A lot of the names I really liked, I've now found out are quite popular, and we would like to use a less common name, so that's made things tricky. I guess that once we find out if we're having a girl or boy, that will cut our dilemma in half!

We've had a really busy weekend getting all our last minute X-Mas things done. I can't wait for some time off of work...I feel like I really need it!

13 Weeks!

Casey wanted to be in the picture too....ha!

How Far Along: 13 Weeks today
Total Weight Gain: 7lbs...my weight fluctuates a lot during the week, so it's hard to say for sure.
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but probably soon. There are a few pairs of pants that I can't wear anymore.
Stretch Marks: Nope! I bought this fancy stretch mark cream which I'm sure does nothing, but it makes me feel better :)
Sleep: Ok...I got a body pillow which is really comfy to sleep with. And I've only been getting up to pee once a night this week. I've tried to cut down on my water intake in the evening.
Best Moment of the Week: Telling everyone at work, nice that everyone finally knows.
Miss Anything: Not really this week....
Movement: Nothing yet....
Food Cravings: Fish and chips....but I haven't given in yet. And golden delicious apples, I've been eating one a day.
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really, but still come close to getting sick every morning when I brush my teeth
Showing: I can definitely tell, but other people might just think I've gained a few pounds. When I told everyone at work, they said they never would've known.
Gender Prediction: Boy, I think....hmmm.....
Labor Signs: No way.....ahh!
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Happy :)
Looking forward to: My last full week of work before the holidays....yay!

Nothing too eventful happened this week, besides telling my work and posting on facebook tonight. Someone at my work is actually using the same midwife as us, so that was kind of funny to find out. We did a bit of X-Mas shopping today which put me in the X-Mas spirit. Andrew decided that I have to wear the same shirt in all my weekly pictures so that we can actually see the difference. I swear I see a bit of a difference between last week's picture and this week. I really think I'll be in some maternity clothes after the holidays.

We really want to start working on the nursery, but have decided we'll wait until we find out if we're having a girl or a boy.

Oh, I did fall down a few stairs yesterday morning. I came out of our bedroom and my heel slid off the step and I fell down a few. I didn't hit my belly or anything, so I think I'm fine. I wasn't sore yesterday, but today my back is really sore in a few places. I'm going to have to be more careful!

I'll post another pic next Sunday!

12 Weeks!

I am exactly 12 weeks today!

How Far Along: 12 Weeks
Total Weight Gain: 5lbs (yikes)
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but probably soon. Wore my pants undone yesterday...
Stretch Marks: Nope!
Sleep: Ok...still getting up to pee at least twice a night which makes it hard to sleep well
Best Moment of the Week: Telling Andrew's family
Miss Anything: Fitting into my clothes
Movement: Nothing yet....
Food Cravings: Nothing in particular, but I still want to eat lots of carbs...
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really, still creamy things, but I also gag every morning when I brush my teeth
Showing: Looking chubby
Gender Prediction: Boy
Labor Signs: Noooooo
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off: On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: About 50/50 this week
Looking forward to: Telling people at work...

We've had an eventful couple of weeks. Last weekend, Andrew and I did some shopping around, just to see how much things were and to get an idea of the kinds of things we'll want for the baby. We actually ended up buying a stroller. We knew which one we wanted, and were told by two different stores that it's going up in price. So we bought the Baby Jogger City Select:

This stroller is pretty awesome. It's also great because when we decide to have baby #2, we can add a second seat to it.

On Monday, we went for our second appointment with our midwife. We decided not to do the testing for down syndrome, etc. So...we won't get to go for another ultrasound until 20 weeks when we'll find out the baby's sex. That kinda freaked me out, but then we got to hear the baby's nice strong heartbeat, which made us both feel a lot better...it was great. Turns out that I was also 4 days behind where I thought I was. So...our official due date is June.24/13 (as opposed to June.20/13).

We also celebrated Andrew's grandma's 85th birthday yesterday, and used her birthday brunch to tell Andrew's family about our pregnancy and Karey's. We framed these pictures for her:

She opened Karey's first and everyone was excited. Then she opened ours and had a great reaction....it was really fun, and nice that everyone in our families know now.

We also took some other pics for fun:

We're going to post the pic of Casey on facebook later this week, once I've told my work.

Guess that's all for now!

10 Weeks!

Today I am officially 10 weeks along. I was going to take a belly pic, but forgot, so here's a pic of me holding my one-month old niece, Amelia. So far I've been feeling pretty good, just extremely tired and a bit of an uneasy stomach in the mornings. I think I have gained a few pounds, but that may be due to the fact that all I want to eat is carbs as they seem to settle my stomach. I finally went back to the gym last night after a 3 weeks hiatus. I did 50 mins. on the elliptical and actually felt great! I also bought the book "what to expect when you're expecting", as it seems to be a prerequisite for all pregnant women.

How Far Along: 10 Weeks
Total Weight Gain: a couple of pounds I think...
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but I do have to leave the button undone on some of my jeans :)
Stretch Marks: No
Sleep: Good, except for waking up to pee!
Best Moment of the Week: Andrew getting to come home for a day
Miss Anything: Not really, I wasn't a huge coffee or alcohol drinker
Movement: Haven't felt anything yet...
Food Cravings: Carbs, carbs, and more carbs....
Anything making you queasy or sick: some smells hit me out of the blue, also creamy things like creamy soup make me nauseas.
Showing? I think I look a bit chubbier...
Gender Prediction: Boy
Labor Signs: Hell no!
Belly Button In or Out? In
Wedding Rings On or Off? On
Happy or Moody Most of the Time? Happy
Looking Forward To: my next appt. with my midwife, and being able to tell more people once we've past the 12 week mark.

Nice to Meet You Baby!

On November 9, 2012, I went for my first ultrasound called a "dating ultrasound" which they use to determine how far along you are. You have to drink a whole ton of water before the ultrasound, and I wasn't feeling so well on the way there. When we arrived, I ended up throwing up in the parking lot while Andrew paid for parking. I felt better right afterwards. I was expecting that Andrew would get to come into the room with me, but I went in alone. The technician didn't say two words to me throughout the whole thing which was making me start to worry. Then finally she turned the screen and showed me baby Cummings! She then went and got Andrew so he could see the baby too. She scrolled through several images, and showed us the baby heartbeat which looked like flickering on the screen. It was awesome, and made me feel much more confident that the baby was healthy and doing well. That night I shared the news with the rest of my family, including my dad and his wife, my older brother, and my sister.

Karey's Preggers Too!

On November 8, 2012, Janice called and told us to go on Skype to talk with Karey. Andrew and I immediately suspected that she was going to tell us she's pregnant. We called her, and after some awkward small talk she finally told us that she and Dan were expecting and that she was about 11 weeks along!!!! We of course told her our news too, and we all laughed and freaked out for a bit. We called Andrew's other sister, Alex, over skype on a three-way call, and filled her in on the big news. I think she was the most surprised!!!! Also, turns out that Janice had known for a few weeks about both of us being pregnant, and it had been killing her not to say anything. What a great night, and so exciting that we'll be having babies so close together. Congrats Dan and Karey!!!!

Meeting the Midwife!

On November 5, 2012, I had my first meeting with my midwife, Jessalynn. We tried to hear the baby's heartbeat, but weren't successful. She had prepared me that it would probably be a long shot.

Ouch!

On Nov.3/12, we had another wedding to attend for my friend, Bethany! Unfortunately, I was experiencing unbelievable pain in my jaw that I assumed was the result of a dental issue. Due to the pregnancy, I didn't think I was allowed to take Advil. I found info from Motherisk which stated that it was safe to take Advil during the first and second trimesters, so I was able to get a bit of relief. On November 5, 2012, I ended up getting an emergency root canal...ouch! I wasn't given any pain killers because I'm pregnant, and they had to be extra careful about taking x-rays.

Welcome Baby Amelia :)

On October 26, 2012, my sister gave birth to her second daughter, Amelia, via a scheduled c-section. My mom and I sat together in the waiting room with my niece, Maddy, and it was hard to keep a secret again! It probably wasn't the best idea for me to be there because it kind of freaked me out! There were some complications which were pretty scary, but now Amelia is perfectly healthy! Later in the day, I was talking to my mom on the phone and told her the big news! I explained that I had wanted to tell her in person, but was concerned that Maddy would tell everyone. She was very excited and mentioned that maybe I would have her first grandson! (My mom has 6 granddaughters!

Spilling the Beans!

On October 19, 2012, Andrew couldn't hold it in anymore and told his mom, Janice, that we were expecting. I think she was surprised :) We also suspected that his sister, Karey, might be pregnant, to which Janice responded "I wouldn't be surprised at all if she was"....hmmm.....

Secrets

The following night, we attended the wedding of my childhood best friend, Becky. My Mom and John were there too, and it was hard to keep a secret. I poured some wine into my glass and pretended to drink it so it wouldn't be too obvious :)

We're Gonna Have a Baby!!!

So...we've known we are expecting since October, but I'm only getting around to starting this blog now. I wanted to keep track of my pregnancy with pictures and posts, so that I would remember how I was feeling, when things happened, etc. I'll be posting a bunch of posts now, and then probably about once a week.

I took my first test on October 10, 2012, and it was negative. (test on top)

On October 12, 2012, I decided to take another test. I did it first thing in the morning, and Andrew and I stood in the bathroom staring at the stick. Just as we were giving up, a faint second line appeared (test on the bottom). I immediately googled "faint second line" and the consensus was that even the faintest second line = pregnant!!! We were super excited, but we both had to get ready for work!
