Well...it happened. We blinked, and our little baby turned one! She is such a sweet, snuggly, sensitive little girl and we obviously love her to death. All month we kept saying "I can't believe she's going to be one!"
This past week she's been so active and vocal, it's like she knew she was turning one so she needed to start acting like a big girl. It's been more difficult to get together with all of the other moms as gradually some of them have returned to work, and it's hard to coordinate playdates with the others as naps seem to be all over the place. We did host a big 1st birthday BBQ two weekends ago to celebrate their birthdays, and it was so adorable! One family wasn't able to make it, but 8 families were here which was great. Six of those 8 babies had their first birthdays in May and June (the other two turned one in February and March). It was a lot of work to host it, but it was so worth it. Andrew made a lemonade stand that we could take photos at and it turned out awesome!
Then this past weekend we had Emerson's party for friends and family, we had 33 people! It was so nice that so many people were able to make it. It went well, except for the rain that sent us running inside at 1pm, but oh well. Em had a two hour nap the morning of her party, so she was in a great mood for the whole thing, she didn't fuss or cry at all. She didn't seem to enjoy her cake quite as much as the other one we gave her...she was more interested in picking all of the berries off of it.
Here's some tidbits from the past month:
- Em has 7 teeth now, four top and three bottom. The 8th is going to come through any day now...
- She sleeps through the night almost every single night...it's awesome!
- She has started using a walker and takes it back and forth in the front hallway
- She officially started calling me Mama this month and I love it :)
- Now she knows how to go down the stairs after she climbs up them
- She is obsessed with stairs, if we go outside on the grass, all she wants to do is climb up the deck stairs. I spend the whole time picking her up and taking back to the fence, we do this over and over again.
- She knows how to open cupboards and drawers
- She still loves bird-watching, and if I ask where the birdies are, she crawls to the window
- Still waving and pointing at everything
- She was sick a couple of weeks ago with some type of virus. She had a fever for a few days and I took her to the doctor. At the point, she hadn't gained any weight since her 9-month check-up, so we're hoping she has when we go back for her shots on the 23rd.
- We've had a pretty action-packed month, so here's some of the things we did: we went to a wedding and grandma and grandpa babysat, we went for a picnic at the Grey Silo golf course, we went to Renfrew for great-grandpa Quilty's funeral, took cake smash photos at the doon mill ruins, went to Whitby to meet baby Norah, and had two big birthday parties!
Here's a whole ton of photos from the past month (we got a new camera and had two parties):

This is one of my fav photos of Em, I can't look at it without laughing..

I'm walking...haha!
She doesn't like her knees on the grass
Is there anything cuter than a naked baby bum?
Oh yeah...she learned how to crawl into the dishwasher
And this is what our house looks like every morning after being awake for 15 mins.
Loves her swing...she's in it every single day
